Midlands diva, Cat Simoni, to perform at the Rhumbelow Theatre

THE Rhumbelow Theatre’s in Pietermaritzburg and Durban will be hosting The Way We Were!, a fabulous tribute show in which Midlands diva, Cat Simoni, does the songs of Barbra Streisand in her own inimitable show.

The show, which has been written and directed by Paul Spence, will be staged at the Rhumbelow Theatre – Pietermaritzburg at the Allan Wilson Shellhole in Alan Paton Avenue, at 2 pm and 6.30 pm on Sunday, July 31; and at the Rhumbelow Theatre in Cunningham Avenue, Umbilo, Durban at 8 pm on Friday, August 5, 8 pm on Saturday, August 6 and at 2 pm and 6.30 pm on Sunday, August 7. Durban comedy promoters, Jem Atkins and Jess Knauf (On Fire Comedy), have been nominated for a prestigious award at this year’s 6th Annual Savanna Comics’ Choice Awards.

They’re up against national comedy promoter heavyweights – Cape Town Comedy Club, David Kau (Blacks Only brand), Goliath & Goliath, and Gino Fernandez (Cape Town) – for the highly prized Best Friend of Comedy award. Continue reading

SA writer, Lidudumalingani, wins Caine Prize for African writing

4/7/16 – Oxford The Caine Prize For African Writing Winner of the 2016 Caine Prize, Lidudumalingani.

SOUTH African writer, Lidudumalingani, has won the 2016 Caine Prize for African Writing for his short story Memories We Lost, published in Incredible Journey: Stories That Move You (Burnet Media).

He received a prize of £10,000 following a special dinner at the Bodleian Library in Oxford, United Kingdom on July 4. Continue reading
