Violinist Joanna Frankel to perform with Baroque 2000 in Mariannhill

JOANNA Frankel, formerly concertmaster of the KZN Philharmonic Orchestra, will perform with  Baroque 2000 at their September 3 concert at the Church of the Monastery, Mariannhill.

Frankel, now concertmaster of the Columbus Symphony Orchestra in Ohio, is the soloist in Locatelli’s Violin Concerto Op3 No 12, known as the ‘Harmonic Labyrinth’.

The programme, which starts at 11.30 am, includes another two works by the same composer: the Concerto a 4 “Il pianto d’Arianna” Op7 No6 and his Introduzione Op4 Nno1, and Castrucci’s Concerto Grosso Op3 No.6.

VIOLINIST, Joanna Frankel, returns to St Agnes Church in Kloof at 7.30 pm on Thursday, August 31, for a violin and piano recital, following her spectacular Mendelssohn Violin Concerto performance in the recent KZN Philharmonic Orchestra Concert at the same venue.

RETURNING to the Hexagon Dive Theatre at the University of KwaZulu-Natal Pietermaritzburg campus at 7 pm for 7.30pm on Saturday, August 26 is That’s All Folk.

The evening of folk music from the sixties and seventies will help raise funds for the charity, Music Voyage, a music initiative in KwaZulu-Natal, which aims to develop positive values and invest young people withself-worth through the provision of music education. Continue reading
