Durban’s Loading Bay Gallery in Station Drive will be hosting two news hows from July 29 to August 21.
Own a Space will feature the work of Deidre Maree, Lara Mellon, Megan Bonnetard, Mervyn McMurtry, Dane Stops, Joan Martin, Karla Nixon, Ann-Marie Nason, Lesley Ireland Mathew, Suraya Tewary and Pam Benporath.
These artists have been given the opportunity to take ownership of a section of the gallery, select their own work and hang is as they deem fit.
Their work includes paper cut outs, oil paintings, mixed medium, pencil drawings, water colours and monoprints. Subjects and styles vary greatly from highly observed representation of portraits to abstract mixed media.
In the second exhibition, Four person conversation, four artists with very distinct styles and techniques fill part of the gallery with a conversation of images and forms. They are Louise Jennings (oil paintings), Sarah Richards (bronze sculptures), Celeste Bredin (oil paintings) and Grace Kotze (oil and acrylic paintings)
Friday’s opening runs from 6 pm to 8 pm. Fortune coffee will provide a cash bar
Duration of exhibition: July 29 to August 21
