The Rhumbelow Theatre in Cunningham Avenue, off Bartle Road, Durban – in association with the South African Magical Society – is hosting Magical Mayhem at 8 pm on Friday, July 29, 8 pm on Saturday, July 30 and 2 pm on Sunday, July 31.
The South African Magical Society (SAMS) hosts its annual showcase highlighting the best of Durban’s magical talent.
The show’s producer, Ricki Gray, no stranger to Durban audiences, explains that the family friendly show is designed to attract audiences that have enjoyed previous shows hosted by SAMS as well as attract new audiences.
“There are many new surprises in store,” explains Ricki. “For example, this year Roland Stansell, longtime member of the magical society, is hosting the show as Grand Panto Dame, Miss Direction.”
The show will feature both amateur and professional magicians and will include a variety of magical acts, from illusions to cards and from mentalism to comedy. By popular demand, once again, magicians will not only be performing on stage, but at the tables. This style of magic, called close-up or intimate magic will allow audiences to experience magic like never before; up close and personal.
Tickets are R140 (pensioners and block bookings of eight or more R120) and R70 for children at Computicket. Bring food picnic baskets. Burgers and chips etc on sale. No drinks – there is a cash bar.
