AS part of its celebrations for Women’s Month in August, the Playhouse Company in Durban will present its famed South African Women’s Arts Festival (SAWAF).

Now in its 21st year, the festival, which runs from August 10 to 19, features a host of award-winning dramas, including the Naledi Award-winning productions, Suddenly The Storm and Scorched. Continue reading

VETERAN actress, Fiona Ramsay, made history on Tuesday, April, when she won the best lead performance in a play (female) for two different plays – Doubt and Miss Dietrich Regrets at the prestigious Naledi Theatre Awards at the Lyric Theatre in Gold Reef City, Johannesburg.

Her co-star in Doubt, Janna Ramos-Violante, won the best supporting actress award. She was one of several actors and companies with links to KwaZulu-Natal who enjoyed a great night at the awards ceremony. Continue reading

The Theatre Arts Admin Collective is calling for applications for the 2016 Theatre Arts Admin Collective Emerging Theatre Directors Bursary – in partnership with the Baxter Theatre Centre and the Distell Foundation.

The bursary is supported by nearly 60 individuals from South Africa, the United Kingdom and the United States of America who contributed through our Thundafund campaign, supported by the Department of Arts and Culture.  Continue reading
