POPULAR Cape Town-based guitarist, James Grace, will be performing in three Music Revival concerts in Kloof and Pietermaritzburg this month.

Grace, who recently performed with the Cape Philharmonic Orchestra in Kirstenbosch to more than 7 000 people, will join forces with pianist, Christopher Duigan, for the recitals at the Tatham Art Gallery at 3 pm on Sunday, February 19, Casa Mexicana at 35 Montgomery Road on Tuesday, February 21 and at St Agnes Church in Kloof on Thursday, February 23. The magic of the Bolshoi Ballet comes to the big screen at Cinema Nouveau

A new season of seven wonderful ballets from Russia’s Bolshoi Ballet company – one of the world’s great powerhouses of classical ballet – is currently being screened at Ster-Kinekor’s Cinema Nouveau theatres.

The next ballet to be enjoyed on the big screen is one of the classical ballets of all time, Tchaikovsky’s timeless Swan Lake, which releases on Saturday, February 18 for limited shows. Continue reading

Italian-American violinist Francesca Dego to perform with KZN Philharmonic

Italian-American violinist Francesca Dego is the soloist at this week’s KZN Philharmonic Orchestra concert.

The KZN Philharmonic Orchestra Summer Symphony Season’s continues on Thursday, February 16 in the Playhouse Opera Theatre in Durban.

Canadian-born Trinidadian conductor Kwamé Ryan conducts the orchestra whose programme opens with Mikhail Glinka’s Overture to Ruslan and Ludmilla followed by the South African premiere of Italian composer Ermanno Wolf-Ferrari’s violin concerto. The concert closes with Dvořák’s Symphony No.8 in G major. Continue reading
