THE world’s best known fairy tales get a – very adult – make-over in the festive froth and frolics that is Once Upon A Fairy (Not the Adult Panto).

Written and directed by Thomie Holtzhausen, with music arrangement by Jaziel Vaugh’ann, the show runs from November 17 to January 15 at Altitude, 25 Silver Avenue, Durban. Continue reading

Classic musical, ‘The Sound of Music’, to be staged at The Playhouse in Durban

The Playhouse Company is set to delight theatre-goers in KwaZulu-Natal with its festive season staging of The Sound of Music, which opens in the magnificent Playhouse Opera Theatre on November 24 and runs until December 30.

Women claim their ground at the Olive Tree in Joburg theatre festival

Cinema Nouveau to screen ‘The Threepenny Opera’ as part of NT Live

Cinema Nouveau will be screening the landmark of 20th century musical theatre, The Threepenny Opera, by Bertolt Brecht and Kurt Weill, in collaboration with Elisabeth Hauptmann, as part of the National Theatre Live series.

This new production was directed by Rufus Norris for the National Theatre on London’s South Bank and filmed live at the Olivier Theatre. Continue reading
