SAMRO Foundation crowns two exciting new instrumental stars

Johannesburg’s Linder Auditorium came alive with the sound and passion of music on Saturday, August 22, when the two 2016 SAMRO Overseas Scholarships winners were chosen. 

Following a tense final round of live performances, saxophonist Linda Sikhakhane (jazz music, left) and marimba player Dylan Tabisher (Western art music, right) were announced as the winners of the two R200 000 scholarships. Continue reading

Three fiction manuscripts shortlisted for Dinaane Debut Fiction Award

Pamela Nichols is the chairperson of the judges for the Dinaane Debut Fiction Award.

THE following fiction manuscripts – No Word Like Home by Saul Musker, Selling Lip-Service by Tammy Baikie and The Last Stop by Thabiso Mofokeng- have been short-listed for the 2015/2016 Dinaane Debut Fiction Award.

The winner, who will receive R35 000, and have their book revealed in print, will be announced in October. Continue reading
