Zoe The Seed to perform at UKZN’s Centre for Jazz and Popular Music

Due to Unforeseen circumstances, Tshepo Fela will no longer be playing at Centre for Jazz and Popular Music on Wednesday, March 1.

Instead local vocalist Zoe the Seed and friends will be lighting up the stage with original compositions from 6pm . This gig is a preview of what Zoe will be presenting at her Jazzy rainbow (93 Simiso Nkwanyana Road) gig on March 10.

Zoe is in the process of releasing two singles which will lead up to an album release which she plans for August 2017.

With a Bachelors degree in jazz and popular music, her Swazi background exposed her to both soul and gospel music. The sound she’s working on at the moment is experimental but carries a distinct texture of African sounds and contemporary jazz .

Her vocal expressions tackles the deepest emotion to the listener since her writing is influenced by everyday experiences people go through. Through her lyrics Zoe promotes love, respect and stands against women and child abuse.

Joining Zoe at the Centre for Jazz will be Bethuel Tshoane (guitar), Sibusiso Mashiloane (piano), Dalisu Ndlazi (bass), Sbu Zondi (drum).

The venue is on level two of the Shepstone Building at UKZN’s Howard College campus in Durban. Doors open 5.30 pm. Tickets are R70 (R45 concessions) at the door.
