THE Blue Caterpillar Gallery at Butterflies for Africa in Willowton Road, Pietermaritzburg, is hosting an exhibition by Di van Wyk.
Titled Memoryscapes, this new body of work came about with her painting both imagined and actual landscape scenes using minimal colours in some but with bold bright splashes in others which make them dramatic
Based in Durban, Diane has had a passion for art for most of her life, but only recently began to pursue her passion seriously.
She enjoys working with oils mostly on canvas, but has experience in most mediums such as acrylics, inks and various other drawing media. Her focus is predominately on portraits and figurative work but she also paints landscapes using her own technique and interpretation.
“When undertaking my portrait and figurative work I like to explore the individuals’ human condition and the resulting emotions which become visible through my paintings,” Di says, adding that she is fascinated to find out what is behind the mask worn by a person.
The exhibition runs until the end of October. Inquiries: www.artsales.co.za
