Erin Fourie
Maritzburg residents are being asked to support acting and singing super star, Erin Fourie, to help her get her show to the National Arts Festival in Grahamstown.
She will be performing at the Maritzburg Musicians Club at La Casa in Quarry Road, Pietermaritzburg on Tuesday, June 28, to take her student theatre piece #SirensRock to the festival.
Erin is no stranger to the MMC, having been on the Midlands music circuit since 2003 and is excited to be joining in once more. She is well-known for her stint on South African Idols in 2011 where she managed to gain a coveted top 10 spot in the competition, making it as far as the top 7 before being voted out.
Erin has recently been involved in the cabaret supper theatre This is the Seventies at The Hexagon Dive and has been cast as Sister Bertha in The Playhouse’s The Sound of Music which will be staged throughout December this year.
She is currently doing her Masters in Drama studies at the University of KwaZulu-Natal Pietermaritzburg and plays at Hebron Haven regularly on the last Sunday of every month.
Also at the MMC are Freaky Lizzard, a young band which is rapidly making a name for themselves. The band consists of Warrick Lunn of the Super Llama fame on guitar and vocals, Cuan Stretch on bass and Jarryd Lunn on drums.
With their debut gig at Outland Festival in April, the band are known for their funky beats, running riffs and sneaky licks.
The MMC is also offering the stage to any keen muso who is looking for a platform to perform their favourite songs to a listening orientated audience after the doors open at 7 pm. Just pitch up with your instrument!
Tickets are R40 at the door.
