Royal Court Theatre’s Hangmen to be screened at Cinema Nouveau

The next production in the National Theatre Live series to be screened at Cinema Nouveau is the acclaimed Royal Court Theatre production of Hangmen.

Handel’s Water Music to be performed by Baroque 2000

Baroque 2000’s new season begins on Sunday, April 10 at the church of the Monastery Mariannhill and features excerpts from suites one and two of Handel’s celebrated Water Music.  Please note that the time is 11 am and not as on the street posters.

Handel’s great work, for strings, oboes, trumpets, horns, bassoon and strings was first performed 299 years ago by musicians on a barge on the River Thames for King George the First, who with his entourage was carried downstream alongside on his own boat.

Also on the programme are the same composer’s Concerto Grosso op 6 no 8, and  Vivaldi’s Concerto ‘per molti instrumenti’, RV 574,  a high spirited work scored for strings, oboes and horns.
