Lu Dlamini to perform at the Centre for Jazz


The Centre for Jazz and Popular Music at the University of KwaZulu-Natal’s Howard College campus is hosting a concert by Durban vocalist, Lu Dlamini, on Wednesday, March 16 at 6 pm.


This gig is a prelude to Lu Dlamini’s 11-track debut album Ulimi lami that is due for release in 2016. Lu will perform songs from the album which she describes “world music”.

Ulimi lami consists of compositions in Isinguni, Portuguese and English by the songbird. It was recorded at The Headroom Studios in Seaview, Durban. A special edition, 4-track pre-album release CD will be available on the night of the gig.


Lu (vocals), will be joined by Barney Bophela (piano), Mazwakhe Gumede (bass) and Mzamo Zungu (drums) at the Centre for Jazz and Popular music (CJPM), on level 2 of the Shepstone Building at 6 pm. Doors open at 5.30pm.
