The magic of the Bolshoi Ballet comes to the big screen at Cinema Nouveau

The season of ballets from Russia’s Bolshoi Ballet company continues with the screening of The Golden Age, which releases at Cinema Nouveau on Saturday, November 12 for limited screenings.

The other productions in this season include: The Nutcracker (December 17), Swan Lake (February 18, 2017), The Sleeping Beauty (March 10), A Contemporary Evening (April 21) and finally, A Hero of our Time (May 12). Andre Rieu, affectionately known as the ‘King of Waltz’, is one of the world’s most popular music artists, renowned for staging spectacular concerts filled with beautiful music, glittering ballgowns and amazing lighting and fireworks.

The 2016 Maastricht Concert from Vrijthof, one of the most beautiful squares in Holland, is no exception.

South African fans will be delighted that this year’s surprise-filled concert will be broadcast on the big screen at Cinema Nouveau theatres at the Rosebank Mall in Johannesburg, Brooklyn Mall in Pretoria, Gateway in Durban and V&A Waterfront in Cape Town on October 15 at 7.45pm and October 16 at 2.30pm.  Continue reading →

Ster-Kinekor Theatres is hosting the exclusive screening of Queen: A Night in Bohemia on Saturday, July 23 at 8 pm, Sunday, July 24 at 2.30 pm, and Tuesday, July 26 at 8 pm, at select cinemas.

This special cinema event includes the monumental and energetic Queen concert, which was filmed live on Christmas Eve 1975 at the Hammersmith Odeon in London; and a never-seen-before documentary featuring footage of Freddie Mercury, recently discovered live performance footage, interviews with all four band members, outtakes, backstage clips and sessions for the first-ever recording of Bohemian Rhapsody, the ground breaking, chart-topping British single from A Night at the Opera.

THE highly anticipated romcom Mrs Right Guy, premières at Ster Kinekor’s The Zone in Rosebank, Johannesburg on Thursday, May 19 – the same day as the film screens at the 69th Cannes Film Festival in France.
