The Barnyard Theatre at Gateway Theatre of Shopping in Umhlanga will be celebrating the venue’s 100th major production with a trip back to the end of the 20th century, when it stages 90’s Mania from March 8 to April 17.

This show is a double celebration of this milestone and a cool decade filled with a variety of pop, rock, alternative, old school and a collection of one-hit wonders! Continue reading

Auditions at the Barnyard Theatre

The Barnyard Theatre Productions will be holding auditions for hopeful performers on Thursday, 4 February, at the Gateway venue.

Duck Chowles of The Barnyard Theatre Productions will be auditioning both male and female vocalists, as well as any musicians for future Barnyard productions.  We ask that those auditioning are aged between 19 and 35, and are prepared to travel The Barnyard Theatre circuit nationally should it be required.

Performers are requested to be at The Barnyard Theatre at Gateway at 09h30 on the day to register, with the audition process beginning at 10h00.  Singers are to prepare two songs, one of which one must be a rock song, and should bring backing tracks.  Musicians are to bring their instruments.

Head to the Barnyard for some Halloween fun

The Barnyard Theatre at Gateway in Umhlanga are celebrating Halloween for the first time on Saturday, October 31, with two special events – one during the day aimed at children, and one at night for adults and including the Rugby World Cup final.

The first is a fun event for kids/families in the afternoon, with the theatre opening at 11.30 am, and activities from 12 noon to 2 pm. This will include a Hall Of Horrors, face painters, a magician, and trick or treat stations. There will also be a hip-hop dancing display, followed by a dance-off for the kids. Continue reading
