THE second annual Zakifo Musik Festival, Durban features one of the most eclectic, multi-genre music line-ups ever gathered together in one festival programme.

Music-makers from France, Reunion, Mozambique, the United States, Mali, Ghana, New Zealand, Australia, Canada and South Africa will be performing at he old Natal Command opposite Battery Beach, May 27 and 28. Continue reading

New dates for DIFF and Durban FilmMart

THE annual Durban International Film Festival (DIFF) and the Durban FilmMart (DFM) will take place from June 16 to 26, 2016, while the DFM will take place from June 17 to 20, 2016.

The events have been rescheduled due to a clash with the 21st International Aids Conference, which takes place at the end of July 2016. The AIDS conference will be using both the Elangeni and Maharani hotels, which are traditionally used as a festival and market hub. Continue reading

Times Media Films, distributor of the Afrikaans language feature film Dis ek, Anna (It’s Me, Anna), which examines the devastating effects of the sexual abuse of young Anna Bruwer by her stepfather, has partnered  with the recently launched Put Your Foot Down (Sit Jou Voet Neer) Foundation to promote the film’s message about taking a stand against sexual abuse. Call for Projects for 2016 Durban FilmMart

The Durban FilmMart (DFM) has opened submissions for projects for the 7th edition, which will take place next year.  It is important to note, that the deadline for submissions has been being shifted earlier to December 14, 2015 to allow for the selection committee to have more time to assess projects, and for more time to create opportunities for marketing and promotion of the projects and film-makers at the DFM.
