THE much lauded Afrikaans feature film, Dis, Ek Anna, took home thee Golden Horns at the 10th South African Film and Television Awards (Saftas) at the Gallagher Estate in Johannesburg at the weekend.

Dis Ek, Anna was named best feature film. It’s director Sara Blecher won best achievement in directing and Marius Weyers was named best supporting actor. Continue reading

SAFTA 2016 nominees revealed

saftasTHE National Film and Video Foundation has revealed the nominees for the 10th South African Film and Television Awards (SAFTAs). The winners will be revealed live at two star-studded ceremonies which will be held at Gallagher Estate on Friday, March 18 and Sunday, March 20.

The winner of Best TV Presenter Golden Horn for SAFTAs 2015 and presenter of Expresso Morning Show on SABC3, Katlego Maboe will serve as the SAFTAs 2016 host. Continue reading

Times Media Films, distributor of the Afrikaans language feature film Dis ek, Anna (It’s Me, Anna), which examines the devastating effects of the sexual abuse of young Anna Bruwer by her stepfather, has partnered  with the recently launched Put Your Foot Down (Sit Jou Voet Neer) Foundation to promote the film’s message about taking a stand against sexual abuse. Times Media Films wins appeal on Dis ek, Anna classification

Dis Ek, Anna

Times Media Films, distributor of the Afrikaans language feature film, Dis ek, Anna (It’s Me, Anna) has won its appeal against the 18 (L) (V) (SV) classification imposed on the film by the Film Publication Board (FPB) on September 4.  The film has now been assigned a restrictive age classification of 16 (L)(V). In addition this classification must be accompanied by a cautionary strip reading: ‘The contents of this film might upset sensitive viewers’. Continue reading
