Wanted: children to perform in KickStArt Theatre’s Winnie The Pooh

KickstArt Theatre Company will be presenting a colourful and faithful adaptation of AA Milne’s classic children’s story, Winnie the Pooh over the July school holidays- and they are looking for children to take part in the show.

Auditions at the Barnyard Theatre

The Barnyard Theatre Productions will be holding auditions for hopeful performers on Thursday, 4 February, at the Gateway venue.

Duck Chowles of The Barnyard Theatre Productions will be auditioning both male and female vocalists, as well as any musicians for future Barnyard productions.  We ask that those auditioning are aged between 19 and 35, and are prepared to travel The Barnyard Theatre circuit nationally should it be required.

Performers are requested to be at The Barnyard Theatre at Gateway at 09h30 on the day to register, with the audition process beginning at 10h00.  Singers are to prepare two songs, one of which one must be a rock song, and should bring backing tracks.  Musicians are to bring their instruments.

Audition to perform at the Playhouse

The Playhouse Company is holding auditions on December 2 and 3 for those who wish to participate in its Test-Driving the Arts programme in 2016.

To take part in the auditions, which will be held at The Playhouse, contact Khulekani Kunene on 031 369 9440 between 9 am and 4.30 pm only, before the cut-off date of Friday, November 27.

The Test Drive programme is designed to showcase arts practitioners in the fields of indigenous and popular cultural entertainment. Performance genres typically featured in the series include Maskandi, Gospel, Kwaito, Afro Reggae, Imfene, Pantsula, Hip Hop, among others.

The Test Drive series provides workers in Durban’s CBD with regular opportunities to enjoy free lunch-time concerts close to their places of work. It also fulfils a valuable role for the performing arts community as it serves as a showcase for artists to be scooped up by talent scouts on the lookout for quality acts.

Auditions for a new play to be held in Durban

THERE will be auditions for the new play, Zus en Matilde, written by Theo Fransz and directed by Philisiwe Twijnstra, in Durban this week.

Auditions will take place on September 12 from 2 pm to 5 pm. Requirements are a monologue and a children’s game. Book a slot by emailing your name and time you would like to audition to ptwijnstra@gmail.com

The director is looking for two female actors, who can play teenagers. Actors must be available for rehearsals in September for a performance in October 2015 in Johannesburg. The performance fee, accommodation, SnT and transport is taken care off.
