Clarinettist, Junnan Sun, to perform at the Hilton Arts Festival

CLARINETTIST, Junnan Sun, will be joining ‘Maritzburg pianist, Christopher Duigan, and cellist, Aristide du Plessis, to perform a Beethoven-themed concert at the Hilton Arts Festival, writes TheLuvvie.com’s Estelle Sinkins.

The three musicians will be playing Beethoven’s Trio in B-flat Op. 11 at 4 pm on Sunday, September 18 in the Hilton College Chapel as part of the Music Revival series. Continue reading

Pietermaritzburg City Orchestra to delight Hilton Arts Festival-goers

If you’re planning to visit the Hilton Arts Festival – which runs from September 16 to September 18 at Hilton College – then make sure you pencil in a date with the wonderful Pietermaritzburg City Orchestra.

These talented musicians will be playing at 11 am and 1 pm on Sunday, September 18 in the Amphitheatre.

Classical music fans can look forward to hearing well-known pieces like Strauss’ Radetsky March and music from Tchaikovsky’s Swan Lake, as well as popular tunes from musicals including Lord Andrew Lloyd-Webber’s Evita and the television hit, Game of Thrones.

Admission to the concerts is free.

Satirist Pieter-Dirk Uys to perform at the Hilton Arts Festival

HILTON Arts Festival-goers have not one, but two chances to see South African satirist, Pieter-Dirk Uys.

He will be performing in his one-man memoir, The Echo of Noise, at 6 pm on Friday, September 16 in the Grindrod Bank Theatre at Hilton College. Fans can also enjoy a Q&A session with Uys after the screening of his new movie, Nobody’s Died Laughing in the CFI Lecture Theatre at 3 pm on Friday, September 16. Continue reading
