Party with the boys, Vegas-style!

IF you want a guaranteed evening of gre4at entertainment, then get yourself down to the Rhumbelow Theatre in Durban for Tie A Knot In It – (Vegas Baby!)writes ESTELLE SINKINS.

Starring three of Durban’s best known actors, Rowan Bartlett, Darren King and Bryan Hiles, the show is a tongue-in-cheek tribute to the many singers who have performed in Las Vegas over the years.

I’ve been fortunate to catch both Tie A Knot In It and its sequel, Tie Another Knot In At, the Hilton Arts Festival and you’d be hardpressed to find anything which will make you smile and leave you humming tunes when the curtain comes down.

Bartlett, who has appeared in everything from Winnie-The-Pooh to Hamlet, King, who has been delighting thousands of children in KickStArt Theatre companies pantos, and Hiles, who starred in KickStArt’s Chicago earlier this year, are all consumate musical theatre performers.

Fort this show they deliver a decidely more chaotic and distinctly exuberant romp through the casinos and wedding chapels of Las Vegas and give us their thoughts on the stars who have made them famous.

You can expect a smooth cocktail of one part Dean Martin, two parts Sinatra, a dash of Robbie Williams and a twist of Cher — served over crushed Celine Dion, shaken, not stirred.

Tie a Knot in It (Vegas Baby!) is packed full of anecdotes, humour, risqué banter — and most importantly some glorious era-defining songs. The three men’s version of Leonard Cohen’s Hallelujah is spine-tingling.

The show, which has been conceived, written and directed by the cast, is an absolutely unmissable treat.

Showtimes are: 8 pm on Friday, October 6, 8 pm on Saturday, October 7 and 2 pm and 6.30 pm on Sunday, October 8.

Tickets are R150 (R130 pensioners) at Computicket.

The show is a supper theatre style evening, so bring along your picnic baskets, but no drinks. There is a cash bar.
