WANT your funnybone tickled? Then head down to Sibaya Casino’s iZulu Theatre, near Umhlanga, for the Heavyweight Comedy Jam at 3 pm on Women’s Day,  August 9.

The show features Samantha Govender, Maeshni Naicker, Shika Budhoo, Natasha Portrag and Sumantha Pillay, making this is a perfect girls’ night out, or an opportunity for the guys to spoil their ladies.

Govender, from Verulam, is passionate about the performing arts, and a familiar face on local TV screens thanks to her role as ‘Rani’, the attractive rice-cooking wife in the Spar adverts on TV.

Naicker, known for her role in Keeping Up with the Kandasamys, was introduced to the world of theatre by her late father at the age of eight, when he decided to enrol her at a drama school. Although totally glamorous and serious on some sets, Naicker, from Chatsworth, will have the audience in stitches.

Actress, voice over artist, director and comedienne Budhoo, adds her own blend of funny-spice to this laugh-a-minute show. Raising a child, she has found the humour in being a first time parent and during her year on maternity leave wrote her new one-woman comedy show titled Birth Masala.

Portrag, better known as Tash, is the freshest name in comedy and has some sound advice to give on dealing with a man and his family. Her rise to fame happened almost overnight with just a few video clips which have gone viral in South Africa and abroad. Her solo show Have a Bash with Tash has sold out time and again.

To provide a little relief for the stomach muscles, popular singer songwriter Pillay, will perform some feel-good songs from her albums One Voice, Dance the Beat and This is Me.

Tickets are available from Computicket.
