LIFE can be all too serious, so why not enjoy some comedic relief courtesy of a mix of Durban and South Africa’s best funnymen – and women.
Heading to the Tropical Nites Theatre at the Wild Coast Sun on July 22 for the Crazy Funny Comedy Show are Annalakshmi, KG Mokgadi, Neil Green, Jem Atkins and Mohammed Vawda.
Aside from Johannesburg-based comedian Mokgadi, the comedians are all proudly local and fans are guaranteed a night of side-splitting humour with a Durban twist and a sprinkle of Joburg flair.
“We are thrilled to welcome to our stage this eclectic group of funnymen. All established comedians in their own right; they each bring their own unique style of comedy to the show. Hosted by On Fire Comedy, in partnership with Savanna Premium Cider and East Coast Radio, the headline act is the irrepressible Joey Rasdien.
Hysterically funny, deeply perceptive and a delight to watch, he has performed internationally at the prestigious comedy venue, Yuk Yuks, in Toronto, and is a regular on both the big and small screen in SA having appeared in Bunny Chow, Blitz Patrollie and Material with Riaad Moosa.
A firm favourite on comedy stages throughout the country, Rasdien has performed at and headlined many major comedy festivals and appeared in Blacks Only Comedy, which played to a capacity crowd of 4,000 people.
He will be joined by comedienne, Claudine Ullman, on tour from Johannesburg, Cape Town comedian, Keenan Cerff, and Durban’s finest: Kamz Govender, Green, Vawda, Atkins, Kelvin Stoffels, Glen Bo, Richelieu B and Daryl Williams.
Ullman is an actress, improviser, stand up comedienne, public speaker and was recently voted one of Mail & Guardians top 200 Young South Africans for her contribution to the comedy industry.
She has performed at Parker’s Comedy Club, Goliath Comedy Club, the Cape Town Comedy Club and the Clarens Comedy Festival.
Events get underway at the Amsterdam Comedy Club at the Amsterdam Bar, 143 Helen Joseph Road, Glenwood at 8.30 pm on Wednesday, July 26.The line-up features Cerff, Ullman, Richelieu B, Williams and Atkins.
