Comedians, Aaron McIlroy, John Vlismas and Jem Atkins, to deliver ‘An Evening of Chemody’ to support Themi Venturas

Join John Vlismas, Aaron McIlroy and Jem Atkins in An Evening of Chemody at the Elizabeth Sneddon Theatre at the University of KwaZulu-Natal’s Howard College campus at 7.30pm on Monday, June 26 and help raise funds for theatre legend, Themi Venturas’ medical expenses.

John and Aaron have been making people laugh really hard for decades. They are old friends and have something else in common – both of them did extensive work early in their careers with Themi, who was recently diagnosed with pancreatic cancer.

Joining them is local comic, Jem, who is possibly as talented,  but said to be much better looking than both of them!

What better way for Durban to rally and get Themi the treatment he needs than these three lunatics doing the stand-up comedy that has made them household names, and then answering questions from the audience and recounting stories of their most ridiculous experiences on and off stage.

Many people have no idea how funny it is when performers share horror stories with each other, and now you have the chance to hear it straight from the source. This will be a night to remember, with hilarious comedy and an intimate, honest and meaningful look behind the curtain at what the show looks like from the other side.

“We are not spending any money – it’s all going to the medicine,” says John, “there are no posters, no flyers, no frills. I’m very excited to be raising money for drugs than an actual doctor prescribed, it’s a first.”

“That’s true, but we will have jokes,” says Aaron, “and you will get a seat – if you book soon.”

Tickets are R225 at Computicket, who are waiving all commission costs to support this cause.  Call 0861 915 8000 or visit, or buy tickets directly at any Checkers Money Market Counter.  There will also be door sales on the night, subject to availability.
