As part of its new series of music documentaries, BBC Brit (DStv channel 120) will be screening Ed Sheeran: Jumpers For Goalposts – Live From Wembley at 8 pm on Friday, November 18.
Ed Sheeran plays live in front of a packed Wembley Stadium. It is a career-defining show for a man who has gone from playing in pubs to performing in front of audiences of over 80,000 people and achieving huge international success and critical acclaim in just a few years.
Even so, Sheeran approaches his performance in the same way as he would a pub gig – there are no pyrotechnics, no grand spectacle, no backing singers. Just one singer, his guitar and an effects pedal. His performance is understated and totally captivating. Sheeran expertly combines a mix of crowd-pleasing hits and intense, intimate tracks.
Songs include Lego House, Take It Back, The A Team, Thinking Out Loud and covers of Nina Simone’s Feeling Good, Backstreet Boys’ Everybody and Stevie Wonder’s I Was Made to Love Her. Special guests include Elton John, who performs a duet with Sheeran on Don’t Go Breaking My Heart.
