THERE will be a creative writing workshop, Learn to Write the Right Way, hosted by Brenda George at 8.45 am for 9 am on Saturday, August 27 in Pietermaritzburg.
George has been a freelance editor for 43 years, and edited the international best-seller A Man Cannot Cry by Gloria Keverne. She ran a literary agency for seven years in the 1990s, writes epic novels, and penned the non-fiction writing manual The Craft and Joys of novel Writing.

Baroque 2000 will perform a programme of Italian music, featuring the flute and four solo violins, at the Church of the Monastery, Mariannhill, at 11.30 am on Sunday, August 28.
Guest artist, Evelien Ballantine, is the soloist in Francesco Mancini’s Sonata in D minor, and in Allesandro Scarlatti’s Sonata no 9 in A minor, both for flute and strings.
The other works are Vivaldi’s Violin Concerto RV 234, L’Inquietudine, (Anxiety) (soloist Ralitza Macheva), Giuseppe Valentini’s Concerto for four violins, and Francesco Geminiani’s Concerto Grosso op 3 no 1 in D.
Tickets are R140 at the door and the Monastery tea garden will be open before and after the concert. There is free and safe parking.
