Durban band Edisontide – whose members are Jordi van Dyk, Bryn Scott and Joel Kenrick – have released their first single The Conspirator and will be releasing a self titled debut EP on August 26. The release is part of an exclusive campaign with iTunes and Apple Music.
The Conspirator is a fresh energetic pop track. Frontman Jordi van Dyk’s powerful vocal becomes hauntingly beautiful and leaves the chorus hook “I never meant to break, break your heart” lingering in your mind long after listening to the song.
The band’s EP was recorded in June at Lightstain Studios in Potchefstroom with South African Music Award nominated and Ghoema-winning producer, Ewald Jansen van Rensburg.
Jansen van Rensburg has produced some of SA’s top artists, including Elvis Blue, Monark and Majozi, and gives Edisontide a cinematic pop edge that has the band very excited for fans to hear the songs from the forthcoming EP.
“The entire recording process was a unique experience for us and we really enjoyed the entire journey,” said Van Dyk. “It was spontaneous and driven by what felt right, for each song. For me personally, it was a journey of learning to trust my own instincts as a songwriter and I’m sure I can say the same for the rest of the band. Our producer was incredible and it was a privilege to work with him. In a sense, I’d say this entire EP is an honest reflection of who we are as a band.”
Edisontide’s debut EP is a collection of five well-written and produced tracks. Dripping with sexy synth pop sounds, songs such as Sealion and Au Revoir are power tracks marinated in pool of cinematic pop. The final track Paper ends the EP off with a slow sensual ballad. Paper will be released on Friday, August 19 as a second instant gratitude track when pre-ordering the EP on iTunes.

Edisontide formed in 2014 after Jordi van Dyk and long-time friend and drummer, Bryn Scott, (who won the ‘Converse Get Out The Garage’ Competition back in 2013) were joined by guitarist Joel Kenrick to pursue their collective love for music.
The band has already notched up some impressive live performances nationwide supporting some of SA’s biggest artists, including Gangs of Ballet, CrashCarBurn, and Prime Circle, and performing at local festivals such as Parklife, Splashy Fen and Park Acoustics.
In 2015 Edisontide performed at The Great Escape Music Festival in Brighton (UK), which is regarded as one of the top festivals for new/unknown artists to showcase their music to some of the world’s biggest music industry professionals.
