THE KFC River Stage, at the Royal Agricultural Show in Pietermaritzburg, is a popular destination for families.
Children can look forward to clown and magician acts, as well as great educational shows featuring the very popular shark dissection talk, a wild animals talk and demonstration, talks on water and electricity conservation, and a presentation about creepy crawlies and snakes!
If you prefer music and dance, then don’t miss out on the demonstrations from the local Zumba and Salsa clubs or just sit back and enjoy some wonderful home grown musical talent from an array of artists. There is even a Beat Boxer lined up to teach the youngsters how to make awesome musical sound effects with their mouths.
Also back by popular demand is the Royal Duck Dash, in which hundreds of little yellow rubber duckies will float down a stream to raise money for CHOC (Childhood Cancer Association SA). Last year visitors to the Royal helped raise over R15 000 for CHOC.
Visitors are again invited to sponsor a duck for just R10 and then see if their duck wins the daily race and a R1000 cash prize. Look out for the CHOC ticket booths at the entrances to the Royal Show and support this wonderful organisation.
Entry to the Royal Show, which takes place at the Royal Showgrounds from May 27 to June 5, is R60 for adults and R40 for children under 12 and pensioners. Entry is R40 for everyone on Wednesday, June 1.
