THE Rhumbelow Theatre in Pietermaritzburg – based at the Allan Wilson Shellhole, 5 Alan Paton Avenue (Durban Road) – will be hosting Celebration Time with Platform Jazz at 2 pm and 6.30 pm on Monday, May 2.
Everyone at sometime in their lives has either been to or had a party. We all celebrate milestones in our lives such as birthdays, engagements, weddings, achievements, certain holidays etc, and this is done by being with people, having fun, consuming food and drink, dressing up, singing and dancing!
Platform Jazz is set to bring you jazz party favourites from the gangster and Great Gatsby parties, evergreen tunes from the Swing era, conga line Latin favourites and songs that just celebrate life.
Listen out for great favourites such as Mac the Knife, Feeling Good, Rum and coca cola, Tequila!, Here’s to life, Let’s fall in love, C’est si bon, What a wonderful world and Happy to name a few.
Join Jeff Judge on the sax, Dunc the Hunc on the trombone, Kirsten The Kitten on the clarinet, Melvin Peters on the keys, Andreas on the bass, Bashful Bruce on the drums, Songbird Shelley McLean and Cathy Hotlips Peacock on the trumpet; and re-live your own party memories as you celebrate life with Platform Jazz in Celebration Time.
Tickets R140 (R120 pensioners and block bookings of eight or more) at Computicket. Bring food picnic baskets, but no drinks. There is a cash bar. Booking is essential.
