CANCELLED: Enjoy the songs of Alan Jay Lerner at the Hexagon

If you love the music and songs from My Fair Lady, Camelot, Gigi, Brigadoon and Paint Your Wagon, then make sure you book your seats for Accustomed to his words – The lyrics of Alan Jay Lerner at the Hexagon Dive theatre at the University of KwaZulu-Natal Pietermaritzburg campus on Friday, February 12 and Saturday, February 13.

These musicals contain some of the world’s best loved songs, including: I Could have Danced all Night, I’m Getting Married in the Morning, Accustomed to her Face, If Ever I Would Leave You, Thank Heaven for Little Girls, The Heather on the Hill and I Talk to the Trees are just a few of the timeless musical hits featured in th show.

Following the success at The Dive in 2015 of his last one-man show, The Sound of his Music – Richard Rodgers, Anthony Stonier sings hits from these and other hit musicals with Evan Roberts at the piano as musical director.

Anthony has been a part of the KwaZulu-Natal and national theatre industry for 28 years. He has been involved in numerous productions over the years in capacities ranging from actor/singer to pianist to composer.

He won a VITA award in 1989 for Frank ‘n Stein and has since won two Durban Theatre Awards for best male vocalist in 2003 and 2007.

The call of the stage, lights, sound and performance has long been a core part of award-winning musician and musical director Evan’s life. A self-taught musician, Evan has played the piano since age four.

He has won numerous awards for his work on and behind the stage, including several Theatre Awards for performance and musical direction. Evan was also nominated for a Naledi award for musical direction for his work on the musical Cabaret which toured SA to critical acclaim.

The show is a picnic-style evening, so bring food, but no drinks, as there is a cash bar. Tables seat 10. Tickets are R120. To book email hexagon@ukzn.ac.za
