Lisa Bobbert, Liesl Coppin and Marion Loudon are bringing their glamour and giggles to The Barnyard Theatre at Gateway in Umhlanga when they present The Glitter Girls on Monday, September 14; and to the KZN midlands on Sunday, September 20.
Three of Durban’s most loved and versatile performers, together they are a formidable femme de force who not only light up the stage, but have the audience eating out of the palms of their manicured hands.
All three are natural comics that keep the audience in stitches with performances that can only be described as irrepressible!
Recipients of the coveted Mercury Durban Theatre Personality of the Year Award, they have put together a musical comedy that is light hearted and very entertaining – you don’t have to be an 80’s child to enjoy this show.
The Glitter Girls hinges around a school reunion – 25 years later, Skolliesville High matric class of 1989 is finally having their reunion. With songs from the 80’s to today, audiences can expect to hear hits from Bananarama, Eurythmics, Rihanna and ABBA. Witness The Glitter Girls re-live their greatest triumphs, trials and heartbreaks.
The absolute highlight of the show is when the gorgeous Glitter Girls gender-bend into their alter-egos – Kenny de la Mer, Ruben Lipshitz and John Gray. These “dudes” are underscored by the unmistakable backbeat of Duran Duran, Rick Astley, Bruno Mars and Robin Thicke’s Blurred Lines, to name but a few.
The Glitter Girls is at the Barnyard Theatre at Gateway on Monday, September 14. Doors will open at 6.30 pm, the show will start at 8 pm and tickets are R120 from 031 566 3045.
The Hilton Arts Festival runs from September 17 to 20 at Hilton College. Catch The Glitter Girls in the Falcon Tent at 2 pm on Sunday, September 20. Tickets are R165 at www.hiltonfestival.co.za
