The 40th anniversary of Michaelhouse’s Schlesinger Theatre is being celebrated with a performance of the Shakespearian classic, Romeo and Juliet.

Directed and edited by William le Cordeur, the play will be performed by students at Michaelhouse in Balgowan and St John’s Diocesan School for Girls in Pietermaritzburg at 2 pm on August 14 and 7 pm on August 15, 16 and 17. Continue reading

Caversham Mill Restaurant in the beautiful KwaZulu-Natal midlands is hosting Conduct Unbecoming! narrated by Richard Cock at 8 pm on Thursday, April 21.

The conductor, who will also be taking part in the Michaelhouse Music Festival, will be telling stories and anecdotes from the world of conductors.

Guests will also be treated to a guest performance by The Philip Cox Trio, which will be launching their album, Top Drawer.

Brecht’s classic The Caucasian Chalk Circle to be performed at Michaelhouse

PUPILS from Michaelhouse and Treverton will be performing German playwright Bertolt Brecht‘s Caucasian Chalk Circle at the Schlesinger Theatre at Michaelhouse next week.

Directed by William le Cordeur, the play, which can be seen at 7.30 pm on Thursday, March 3 and 2 pm on Friday, March 4, runs for one hour and 45 minutes with no interval. Continue reading

MORE than 250 choral singers will be performing in Let The People Sing!, a special festival of popular hymns and inspiration songs, in the Pietermaritzburg City Hall at 7 pm on Thursday, October 22.

The Michaelhouse Chapel Choir, Epworth Prep School and High School choirs and the Howick Choristers will sing individual numbers and combine for massed choral works in this festival of popular hymns and inspirational songs, which aims to bring together communities, audiences and choirs.
