BAROQUE 2000 is celebrating its 20th anniversary with a concert in the Victoria Hall at Maritzburg College at 7.30 pm on Saturday, October 7, writes ESTELLE SINKINS.

The Baroque 2000 in their 20th Year concert is part of a new Spring Festival, hosted by Christopher Duigan’s Music Revival, which runs at different venues in the city from Friday, October 6 to Friday, October 13. Continue reading

Iqraam Rahim’s Rampage Dance Company proudly presents NAACH – My Diary of Dance, a celebration of dance from a South African Indian perspective.

The production will be performed on Friday, August 19 at 7 pm at The Playhouse in Durban by a cast of some 30 performers, made up of students from Crawford, Northwood, Verulam Secondary, Seatides Combined, DHS, Maritzburg College, St John’s College, Our Lady of Fatima and the University of KwaZulu-Natal. THE Friends of Tatham Art Gallery (Fotag) is hosting a fundraising quiz evening at the Tatham Art Gallery in Chief Albert Luthuli Street, Pietermaritzburg, on Friday, August 12.

ESTELLE SINKINS spoke to sports commentator, Andy Capostagno, who lives in the KwaZulu-Natal Midlands, and will be the quiz master at the event, about the chances that the Springboks and Proteas have in the forthcoming internationals and how he feels South African sportsmen and women will fare at the Rio Olympics.

Repaired Steinway Grand piano to play a starring role in Rhapsody in Blue concert

THE Steinway Concert Grand Model D piano in the Pietermaritzburg City Hall, which was damaged by rain water dripping from a leak in the city hall roof three years ago, has been fully repaired and will be back in action from 7.30 pm tonight (Saturday, March 19). Continue reading

Don’t miss Blood Lions doccie at Maritzburg College

MARITZBURG College, in collaboration with Wildlands Conversation Trust and the film’s producers, is hosting a screening of the internationally acclaimed documentary, Blood Lions, which exposes the canned lion hunting industry in South Africa. The screening will take place at 5.30 pm on Ocrober 19 in the Alan Paton Memorial Hall.

There will also be a screening of the doccie on Thursday, October 15 at 6.30 pm at Ster-Kinekor, Musgrave, Durban. Continue reading
