AROUND 100 dancers will be strutting their stuff on the Playhouse Opera Theatre stage in Durban for the 25th season of Shall We Dance.

DURBAN-based, Flatfoot Dance Company and Adriaan Luteijn, from the Netherlands-based INTRODANS Dance Company, together with four dancers with Downs Syndrome, are blazing a new trail for dance in South Africa.

Their collaboration, Cardiac Output, will be performed at the 19th JOMBA! Contemporary Dance Experience at the Elizabeth Sneddon Theatre on the Howard College campus of the University of KwaZulu-Natal in Durban on Sunday, September 3 at 6 pm. Continue reading

MEMORIES of Sophiatown and District Six will be envoked when the Umkhumbane Jazz Ensemble (UJE) performs at the Centre for Jazz and Popular Music at the University of KwaZulu-Natal Howard College campus at 6 pm on Wednesday, September 6.

The 11-piece band will be playing music from their debut album, Ezintabeni, which includes two cover versions — Sgaxa mabhande and Way Back Fifties by African Jazz Pioneers. Continue reading
