Durban duo pen praise and worship song for Mini World Youth Day

TWO Durban performers, Justin Nanak and Thandeka Dube-Ndhlovu, have composed an original praise-and-workshop ballad, The Mighty One, for the Mini World Youth Day 2017.

The song will be the official theme tune for the event, which runs from December 6 to 10. It was launched at a meeting on July 24 and can now be viewed online.  Continue reading

AFTER performing to sold-out audiences in 2016, the award-winning ‘Queen of Bollywood’, Shreya Ghoshal, returns to serenade South African fans with a night of soulful melody and music.

Accompanied by popular Indian vocalist, Kinjal Chattopadhyay, and the stars of Sony Entertainment TV, Shaheer Sheikh and Kushal Tandon, she will perform at the Durban ICC on August 19 and the Centre Court at Emperors Palace in Johannesburg on August 20. Continue reading

Imbokodo Jazz Festival aims to celebrate SA’s female jazz stars

WITH Women’s Month on the horizon, female artists are set to dominate this year’s Imbokodo Jazz Festival, which will take place at the N-Shed Cruise Terminal facility in the Port of Durban from 1 pm to 1 am on Saturday, August 12.

It is being hosted by the community based non-profit organisation, iTheku Regional Jazz Association (iTReJA), an affiliate of the South African Jazz Appreciators Association (SAJAA). Continue reading

A series of vintage New Orleans-inspired evenings are on the cards, for lovers of jazz and authentic cuisine.

A Night Down in New Orleans at Egyptian Ellas promises to be a fun and novel event laced with live upbeat jazz, the hippest emcee in town and a wonderful dining experience which has three versions in and around Durban from month-end July to month-end August.

The first shows are at The Prep Room at Glenwood Prep School on July 28 and 29. The event then moves to the Rhumbelow Theatre at Tina’s Hotel in Kloof on August 5 and 6 with the final show planned for the Islander Room at the Point Yacht Club in Durban on August 26 and 27. Continue reading
