Women take centre stage at the National Arts Council

As South Africa celebrates Women’s Month this August, the National Arts Council (NAC) continues to empower a wide range of women working in all aspects of the creative industries nationwide. Of the R17 million awarded by the NAC this year, over one-third went to women-led projects in the fields of theatre, dance, music, visual arts, craft, literature and multi-discipline. Dance with the divas this Women’s Day

Vuyani Dance Theatre is celebrating Women’s Month by hosting a public dance workshop with emerging female choreographers on Sunday, August 9. Lulu Mlangeni (senior dancer at Vuyani) and Thoko Sidiya (formerly with Moving into Dance Mophatong) will be imparting their skills and knowledge during this lively, interactive workshop. It is open to all, and will be held at the Vuyani Dance Theatre studios, located at the Dance Space in Newtown, from 8.45 am to 10.30 am. Continue reading
