THE Playhouse Company’s national isicathamiya competition takes place through the night on September 21, starting at 6 pm in the Opera Theatre.

Around 90 isicathamiya groups from across the country will be competing for R200 000 in prize money in the following categories: top 20, standard and open section.

This celebration of the traditional music genre, made famous by Grammy Award-winners Ladysmith Black Mambazo, is also a fashion extravaganza, with women competing in the onobuhle (beauty queens) category and the male fashionistas in oswenka (swanking).
