FRESH from a successful exhibition at the Greendale Centre, members of the Howick Arts Society (HARTS), will be showing their work at the new St John’s Village Lifestyle Centre on the Karkloof Road in Howick in November and December.

The exhibition will be open from 9 am to 4.30 pm weekdays and from 9 am to 12.30 pm on Saturdays and Sundays.

Anne Raubenheimer, spokesperson for the society, said: “Shoppers will be able to pop in and appreciate the wide variety of artistic talent amongst the HARTS members and buy unique and original Christmas gifts.”

HARTS members — some of whom travel from as far afield as Ladysmith, Rosetta, Nottingham Road, Richmond, Imbali and Pietermaritzburg to take part in shows — work in a variety of media, including oils, acrylics, watercolour, pastels and collages.

“Some of our artists have tertiary qualifications, while others have attended workshops and courses,” said Raubenheimer.

“Some are professional artists while others are beginners, but it is the diversity of the works that adds to the charm of our exhibitions.

“Our society not only gives local artists a chance to sell their work but also gives them the chance to meet once a month, enjoy an interesting talk and participate in a critique of their recent art works.”

Visitors are welcome to attend HARTS meetings, with the next one taking place at St Luke’s Church Hall in Harvard Street, Howick, on Monday, November 6 between 2 pm and 4.30 pm.

Interested artists can also participate in workshops (for a nominal fee), which are held at the same time and place on the second Monday of every month.
