THE Loathsome Lady, a Monty Pythonesque retelling of the Arthurian legend, is being presented by Hilton College pupils in the theatre at Hilton College from Wednesday, August 2 to Friday, August 4.
Directed by Carolyn van Zuydam, the tale begins with a dire threat to King Arthur’s head by the Black Knight.
In order to keep his kingdom, Arthur must answer the most difficult riddle ever: What do women most desire? A hag from the wood can provide the answer, but only if Arthur can find a knight to marry the loathsome lady.
Sir Gawain, an impetuous young knight, volunteers to defend the king’s honour before he meets his bride-to-be. Will Gawain be true to his word? Only the answer to another riddle will keep everyone living happily ever after!
Audiences of all ages will delight in this classic tale, retold with puns, slapstick humour, and audience interaction.
Showtimes are 7pm on August 3 and 4 and 6.30 pm on August 4. There will be a supper in the theatre foyer after the Friday show. A cash bar will be available.
Tickets are R50 online http://www.hiltontheatre.co.za for the show only and R100 for the show and supper.
