THE Hexagon Dive Theatre at the University of KwaZulu-Natal Pietermaritzburg campus is playing host to That’s All Folk, an evening of folk music from the sixties and seventies from July 12 to 15.

Sandra Styles, Ryan and Tammy Calder, Daniel Roussouw and Katherine McClelland, whose previous show, One Hit Wonderful went down a storm at the same venue, will be performing the music of legends like Bob Dylan, Joan Baez, Donovan, Pete Seeger, Joni Mitchell, Simon & Garfunkel and Cat Stevens.

There will also be songs from lesser known folk singers including Tom Paxton, Jerry Jeff Walker, and Melanie. Even the Beatles make an appearance with their folk influenced Norwegian Wood.

Music fans can look forward to hearing classics like Blowin’ in the Wind, Both Sides Now, Homeward Bound, Sounds of Silence, Mr Bojangles, Puff the Magic Dragon, Rambling Boy and Those were the Days.

In true folk tradition of ‘have guitar, will travel’, the performers are accompanied by guitar only, with Ryan Calder and Rossouw providing the accompaniment.

Performances of That’s All Folk – An Evening of 60s and 70s Folk are at 7 pm for 7.30 pm.

Tickets are R85 on Wednesday, July 12 and Thursday, July 13 and R100 on Friday, July 14 and Saturday, July 15. The performances are a picnic style evening, so bring your food, but no drinks. There is a cash bar. To book email hexagon@ukzn.ac.za
