David Myers and Simon “Si” King are better known as the Hairy Bikers and from 8 pm on Wednesday, October 12 you can catch their latest foodie escapades in Hairy Bikers’ Northern Exposure on BBC Lifestyle (DStv channel 174).
Int his new series the Hairy Bikers head north on a big Baltic adventure in search of new cuisines to explore, travelling from Germany to Sweden via Poland, Russia, Finland, Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania.
First Si and Dave visit Poland; and for two sausage-loving bikers, Poland is the ultimate destination. They make sausages in the Polish countryside with a family who have been making them for generations.
They visit the home of both gingerbread and Copernicus, the astronomer who changed the way we all look at the universe. Later, the boys examine Copernicus’s theory and break it down in true bikers’ style – using gingerbread.
Next, the Bikers travel on to the Baltic states. In Latvia, they can’t resist the opportunity to ride with Latvia’s oldest biker gang, the Brothers of the Wind.
They travel to Riga’s huge indoor market, constructed from former zeppelin sheds, and taste some of the country’s most amazing produce.
Estonia sees the Bikers going back to basics on the peaceful and beautiful island of Muhu. They get a taste of the future with an inventive chef, go foraging for sea kale and fall in love with a group of dancing grannies.
BBC Lifestyle is also hosting a new series of Choccywoccydoodah from Thursday, October 13 at 8pm.
The return of the programme following the staff at a chocolaterie based in Brighton. The series begins with Christine organising a photoshoot at a circus.
Next, the team gets a big order from the Royal Academy, but Dave changes the design without the boss knowing. And when shop manager Flick is about to tie the knot and Christine wants to surprise her with 10 cakes to celebrate.
Later, it’s Halloween and the team is given the task of creating a spooky masterpiece.
