The Pietermaritzburg City Orchestra practises ahead of The Best of Broadway concert on July 31.

THE Pietermaritzburg City Orchestra is presenting the concert, The Best of Broadway, at 2.30 pm on Sunday, July 31 at the Cowan House Theatre, 11 Dennis Shepstone Drive, Hilton.

For this spectacular show, the musicians will be joined by vocalists Haylea Hounsom, Darren King, Katy Moore, Bryan Hiles, and Liesl Coppin, all of whom have been involved in a multitude of musicals and shows in Durban and as far afield as Cape Town and Johannesburg.

Highlights of the concert include excerpts from Rodgers & Hammerstein’s The Sound of Music and Carousel, Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Cats and Evita, Boublil & Schönberg’s Les Misérables and Miss Saigon, Kander & Ebb’s Cabaret and Chicago, as well as a broad selection from other musicals such as Chess, written by Tim Rice and ABBA’s Bjorn Ulvaeus & Benny Anderson, Wicked by Stephen Schwartz, and Lionel Bart’s Oliver!

Tickets cost R120 and are available at the door only. Refreshments will be available during the interval. The venue also has secure parking.
