THE Barnyard Theatre at Gateway will be celebrating Father’s Day on Sunday, June 19, with their Sunday matinee performance of 1 Hit Wonders. The show is a tribute to recording artists who only had one hit song and then disappeared into obscurity, never to be heard of again… that is until now!
Although the artists whose music is featured may only have had one big hit, the line-up includes 60 memorable chart-toppers from the Billboard Top 100, so this makes for the perfect way to treat your dad (and the whole family)!
We’re talking big ballads like Take My Breath Away; rock anthems like Final Countdown; classics like Baker Street; disco tracks like It’s Raining Men; sing-along songs like Save Tonight; and the inevitable cheese like Gangnam Style.
The cast includes vocalists Andrew Webster (also narrator), Lee Paver, Gift Gwe, Caelee Vercueil and Anastasia Dilima. The band is made up of Barry Thomson on guitar and vocals, with Calli Thomson on keyboards, Kelly Joubert on bass guitar, Ruan Oosthuyzen on drums and Ola Aina on saxophone.
The theatre will open at 12.30 pm and the show will start at 2 pm. Tickets are R110 per person at 031 – 566 3045 or visit http://www.barnyard.durban.
