On Easter Sunday, March 27, The Playhouse Company will present a special Easter Concert to celebrate this most Holy of Christian days. The concert starts at 3 pm.

Featuring the KZN Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by Naum Rousine, the Playhouse Chorale, the Clermont Choir and soloists, The Easter Concert will include many favourite sacred pieces such as the gloriously stirring Hallelujah Chorus from Handel’s Messiah, Schubert’s Ave Maria, and Agnus Dei from Mozart’s Coronation Mass.

The concert will feature South African opera stars Aubrey Lodewyk and Arline Jaftha, and gospel sensations Sifiso Ncwane and Hlengiwe Mhlaba .

Hailing from the KZN South Coast, Ncwane has a massive and loyal following for his thrilling gospel sounds. He has released three smash hit albums: Bayede Baba, Baba Ngiyavuma and Kulungile Baba.

South African Music Award (SAMA) nominee Mhlaba, who was born in KwaMashu, captivates audiences with her worshipful performances and has the following albums to her name: Esandleni Somusa, Dwala Lami, Laphalala Igazi, Abba Baba, Live At The State Theatre and Hlala Kuye.

Baritone Lodewyk has an admirable number of opera roles to his name, and performs regularly at concerts, soirees, weddings and lieder recitals.

Soprano Jaftha joined the Cape Town Opera Voice of the Nation Ensemble in 2003 and was appointed assistant Chorus Master in 2006. She joined the Voice of the Nation Studio in 2009, and has performed extensively both locally and internationally.
