
British actress Charlotte Salt (pictured), will attend the premiere of the new South African film Modder en Bloed (Blood and Glory) on March 10 at The Zone in Rosebank, Johannesburg. Charlotte plays the role of Katherine Sterndale in this South African period war drama.
Kknown for her roles in American television series like Entourage, CSI: Crime Investigation and Wildfire, she has also worked in Britain, where she’s played the role of the medical nurse, Sam Nicholls in Casualty and also appeared in the period television series The Musketeers, The Tudors and Beowulf.
In Modder en Bloed, she plays Katherine Sterndale, the daughter of the Governor of St. Helena Island and she sympathises with the Boer prisoners, while she faces her own demons from the past.
Katherine is a suffragette and is horrified at the way in which Colonel Swannell (Grant Swanby) is treating the Boers. As a result, she fights for the men’s dignity and also to ignite hope in them.
Modder en Bloed is set against the background of the Anglo-Boer War and tells the story of a group of brave Boers who are imprisoned on St. Helena in the Atlantic Ocean. When one of their own’s life is in danger, they make a dangerous wager to play the most important game of their lives.
The film also stars Stian Bam, Altus Theart, Edwin van der Walt, Deon Lotz, Bok van Blerk, Albert Maritz, David Louw, Albert Pretorius and Jacques Bessenger. British actors Patrick Connolly, Josh Myers and Nick Cornwall also feature.
The film was produced by Dark Matter Studios (Llewelynn Greeff and Henk Pretorius – Leading Lady) and Collective Dream Films (Sean Else and Rudy Halgryn – Platteland) and directed by Sean Else.
Modder en Bloed releases countrywide on April 1 in theatres.
