Ayanda to screen on DStv and Netflix

South African film Ayanda, which was acquired for distribution in the US, is now available in the US and Canada from on-demand Internet streaming media company Netflix through Ava Duvernay’s ARRAY Distribution. This follows the film’s successful US release on the theatrical arthouse circuit in the last quarter of 2015.

Locally, the film premiered on DSTV Box Office until 25 January. The DVD will be released in South Africa in February. Continue reading

Auditions at the Barnyard Theatre

The Barnyard Theatre Productions will be holding auditions for hopeful performers on Thursday, 4 February, at the Gateway venue.

Duck Chowles of The Barnyard Theatre Productions will be auditioning both male and female vocalists, as well as any musicians for future Barnyard productions.  We ask that those auditioning are aged between 19 and 35, and are prepared to travel The Barnyard Theatre circuit nationally should it be required.

Performers are requested to be at The Barnyard Theatre at Gateway at 09h30 on the day to register, with the audition process beginning at 10h00.  Singers are to prepare two songs, one of which one must be a rock song, and should bring backing tracks.  Musicians are to bring their instruments.

THE Johannesburg International Mozart Festival kicks off this year with the Viennese New Year concerts taking place on Saturday 23 January and Sunday 24 January.

Exotic influences have made themselves felt in music throughout history. Drawing on the theme Fairy Tales from the Orient, the concerts will take us on a journey through the East, both near and far, with this wonderful programme including visits to Persia, Egypt, Hungary and many more! Change is afoot at artSPACE durban


An architect’s impressions of how the spaces will look once the work is done.

artSPACE durban was born out of a dream to explore the concept of space, by bringing artists and creatives together in a warehouse style space.

For over twelve years, the gallery at 3 Millar Road, Durban, has opened its doors as a much-loved art gallery and event venue, hosting hundreds of exhibitions, shows and seminars and attracting people from all walks of life.

This phase of artSPACE durban has come to an end, but Karen and Claus Bradtke are excited about the gallery’s future evolution. Continue reading
