The Maritzburg Musician’s Club is returning to the La Casa Stage in Quarry Road, Pietermaritzburg on Tuesday, January 26 with a plan to bring music fans the best of South Africa’s live music talent throughout the year!
Durban recording artist Rowan Stuart will be kicking off his 2016 touring schedule with his debut performance at MMC on Tuesday.
Joined by Andy Turrell on bass guitar, Rowan creates a unique brand of soul folk music, with his soothing vocals and acclaimed acoustic and electric guitar skills at the fore.
2015 was a significant year in his career, and saw the artist perform 60 times over multiple tours throughout South Africa, opening for many of the country’s top artists, ranging from The Parlotones to Freshlyground.
He also earned an endorsement by Cort SA Guitars, and most notably, a management contract with a Hollywood-based company, who will be helping to share Rowan’s music with an international audience.
Opening the evening will be local well-accomplished musician Christo Loots.
Christo is no stranger to stages in and around the Midlands, performing with a wide variety of bands and has been a familiar face in the Marshall Music shop in PMB for many years.
He plays a sublime repertoire of old time folk music with some more recent tunes and originals thrown in for good measure. The music reminds one of a by-gone era and his subtle vibrato helps to carry that ‘high lonesome sound’ so quintessential to this style of music.
Catch these dynamic performers at the Maritzburg Musicians’ Club @ La Casa (5 Quarry Road, Pietermaritzburg) at 7pm for only R40.
