The orchestra will play a section of Christmas favourites including Sleigh Ride and A Christmas Fantasy; and the world-renowned Drakensberg Boys Choir will lift the audience’s spirit with their singing of seasonal music including selections from Stella Natalis, a work for choir and large orchestra by contemporary Welsh composer Karl Jenkins, composer of the popular Adiemus.

The choir will also lead the audience in the singing of traditional carols accompanied by the famous City Hall organ.

Beverley Chiat

Soloists for the evening include Cape Town soprano, Beverley Chiat, who sings O Holy Night and I Know that my Redeemer Liveth from Handel’s Messiah, and Maritzburg-based concert pianist, Duigan.

The KZN Philharmonic will be conducted by Daniel Walshaw, while lighting for the concert is provided by Big Beat.

Tickets, ranging from R130 to R200 (with discounts for pensioners (R120) and students and children (R80), are available at Parklane SuperSpar’s Coffee Shop. Phone 033 342 3487.
