ECR is broadcasting live from 6am to 6pm to raise funds for KZN’s destitute children.

Sharks players, twins Daniel du Preez and Jean-Luc de Preez joined the team do their bit for KZN’s children.

“This initiative is really close to my heart,” says MasterChef winner, Roxi Wardman who started her morning by helping answer the pledge-lines. “I want to help as many people to realise that there are so many people, especially children, in our province who are affected by hunger, so we all need to pledge. Come on KZN!”

Roxi and the du Preez twins are among a host of personalities, among them AKA, Lloyd Cele, Sketchy Bongo, Majozi and Thato Molamu, who will be joining East Coast Radio to man the pledge lines.

Every cent of the money raised will be used to buy food parcels for child-headed households in KZN so the children don’t go hungry over the long end-of-year school holidays. Each food parcel costs R350 and can feed a family of four people for six weeks.

Listeners have also been joining the team at the special live broadcast to donate toys, which will be distributed to every child in KZN government hospitals, crèches and children’s homes.

Spring Light Gas and Spar Supermarket were the highest donors on East Coast Breakfast, contributing R50 000 each to the campaign.
