Violet, who certainly isn’t a shrinking one, gives us all the answers. Recently divorced, she barges into the world of cyber dating, scrabble sex (you heard it first here), a midlife Brazilian wax discovery, crossing the colour barrier, struggles with clothes and smouldering real time sex with virtual strangers.

Violet lives and learns, dispenses advice and confesses all in a delightfully unselfconscious way. Violet Online is based on blog posts by a well-known, mostly a lot to say about them, anonymous, over 40, mother, ex-wife, and grammar fiend.

Gorgeous Cape Town actress Lynita Crofford plays modern, sexy, funny and confident Violet, who is, quite simply, looking for love. Or sex? – Or love and sex? And she does it all in her own tongue in his cheek way.

Megan Furniss directs this sassy and titillating piece that has recently played to highly responsive audiences at the National Arts Festival in Grahamstown and enjoyed sold-out runs at The Alexander Bar and The Kalk Bay Theatre in Cape Town earlier this year.

Violet Online comes to the newly refurbished Nelson Mandela Square at Sandton from October 27 for a two-week run and this is clearly where she is meant to be. Botox, boyfriends, coffee shops, shopping, sex and sensuality are must-haves in Violet’s world, and boy, does she have!

Sassy, very sexy and only slightly shocking, Violet Online is a delightful way to spend an evening at the theatre. The perfect fun-filled entertainment for all – especially for a girls’ night out!

Performances take place at 8.15 pm from Tuesdays to Fridays, with two shows on Saturdays, at 6 pm and again at 8.30 pm. Tickets are R140 from Wednesday to Saturday. There is a half-price special on Tuesdays and Girl’s Night Out group discounts.
