On Tuesday, October 6, the Maritzburg Musicians Club (MMC) will play host to the legendary Steve Fataar, who will be performing a set with local and touring muso friends from Pietermaritzburg and Durban. They will include his son Dane Stops and Graham Ellis, who has been performing in and around Durban.

Steve is no stranger to Pietermaritzburg audiences. He has been making music since the early 1960s and has played on four continents, touring Europe and America, with his band, the Flames, alongside the Beach Boys.

He has also performed at the Royal Albert Hall with bands like Yes and Jethro Tull, and once in the presence of Britain’s Princess Margaret.

Steve was honoured by the Durban mayor as being a “Living Treasure” and these days prefers to collaborate with other musos as it is ‘soul satisfying’. He believes strongly in supporting local musicians and hosts many of his own events to promote the ever-growing talent of the youth.

So, join Steve and friends for another great night at the MMC – hosted by La Casa in Quarry Road, Pietermaritzburg. Doors open at 7 pm with music starting closer to 8 pm. Tickets R40.
No food is served but you can order pizza from Pietermaritzburg’s favourite pizzeria, Pizzology, who are a couple metres down the road and will deliver to La Casa before 8.30 pm. Menus available at La Casa.
